The Japanese company Shimano is undoubtedly one of the most important manufacturers of e-bike drives and is particularly well-known for its shifting systems.

As early as 2010, Shimano presented its first own e-bike drive system, Shimano Steps, which has meanwhile been heavily revised. The new Shimano Steps System was launched in 2014 in an optimized way. Four years after the Shimano STEPS E8000 motor was presented, Shimano has revised the design and philosophy based on many years of experience and brought the new EP8 system onto the market. At 85Nm, this is Shimano's most powerful drive to date. In the meantime, a tuning chip is also available for the EP8 and EP6.
